JOB TITLE: PART-TIME INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST DEPARTMENT: OTC ONLINE
Rate of Pay: $15.00 PER HOUR FLSA: NON-EXEMPT
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Instructional Support
SCHEDULE DETAILS: Part-Time (not to exceed 19.5 hours weekly)
Position Summary
This position provides frontline support to faculty, students, and other visitors, both in-person and virtually, ensuring the effective use of educational technologies, including the college’s learning management system and related tools. The role involves managing walk-in reception, answering phones, and handling service requests through the department's online email queue.
Essential Job Duties
- Provide frontline departmental coverage and both physical and virtual instructional support to faculty, students, and other visitors.
- Provide support to users with the college’s learning management system, related technologies, publisher integrations, and online proctoring, while tracking relevant data as needed.
- Manage walk-in reception, answer phones, and complete service requests through the department's online queue.
- Support and direct departmental guests and inquiries as appropriate, providing additional support after hours, on weekends, and during peak times as needed.
- Facilitate instructor or student training and other programming as directed. Assist with content development as assigned.
- Make presentations or provide training at OTC locations, other venues, and virtually as requested. Travel occasionally and perform duties outside of normal business hours as needed.
- Handle special projects as assigned.
- Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe, professional manner with minimal supervision.
- Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
- Comply with college policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including attending departmental or college functions, serving on committees, and attending community events.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Associate degree or actively pursuing an associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- Ability to identify and support the needs of learners and instructors.
- At least one year of experience working with a learning management system such as Canvas, Blackboard, or other.
- Experience with online classes and familiarity with instructional technologies.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and as part of a team.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in using information technology for professional productivity (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education, or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- Experience with online teaching and the use of a learning management system.
- Familiarity with additional educational technologies such as Teams or online proctoring tools.
- Prior experience in a higher education setting or providing faculty or student support.
- Experience delivering training programs.

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. Requires extended periods of time viewing computer monitor or standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evening and/or weekends; may encounter occasional exposure to inclement weather during travel.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
