Immediate Supervisor: Early Childhood Education Center Director
Schedule Details: Part-time (Available hours will fall between 7:15 a.m. – 5:45 p.m., not to exceed 19.5 hours per week)
The Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) Support Assistant provides program support to the Center through office and clerical functions, and assists Lead and/or Assistant teachers with classrooms, storage materials, and common center areas.
Essential Job Duties
- Enter billing, attendance, and family enrollment data into Procare database.
- Assist the Early Childhood Development (ECD) and ECEC staff by assisting customers, including giving tours of the facility and greeting visitors.
- Perform receptionist tasks - answer the telephone, disseminate information, and distribute mail.
- Assist the ECEC Director and classroom teachers with clerical work.
- Serve as an aide in the ECEC classrooms.
- Assist with stocking supplies, materials, and maintaining inventory.
- Collaborate with colleagues and parents to build positive relationships.
- Exercise initiative by assisting with general housekeeping tasks.
- Assist with major projects and ECEC events including graduation, fall harvest parade, family luncheon, etc.
- Complete professional development training hours as required for licensing, and accreditation. Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Maintain confidentiality of all students, and employees.
- Know and adhere to the policies of the program in regards to:
- Licensing and accreditation guidelines
- Communicable diseases and exclusion of sick children
- First aid and medical emergency
- Emergency procedures
- Mandated reporting procedures
- Center dress code and professionalism
- Reporting personal illness when needing a sick day or requesting time off
- Missouri Eat Smart and MOve Smart guidelines
- NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct
- FERPA and HIPPA confidentiality guidelines within the classroom and ECEC
- Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
- Comply with college policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including attending college functions, serving on committees and attending community events.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to pass a TB test, or provide proof of current test or risk assessment.
- Ability to be approved by the state Family Care Safety Registry and the Comprehensive Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
- Pass or provide transfer documentation of a medical examination as required by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
- Prior customer service experience.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Nine college credit hours in early childhood, child development, or child/family related courses from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning, or a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
- One year of experience as an office or administrative assistant.
- Experience with Procare Software.
- Experience working in a child development laboratory setting at an institution of higher learning.
- Prior experience working with a diverse population.
- Previous experience supervising preschool children.
- Ability to perform physical activities and lift up to 50lbs.
- Experience with Colleague.

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. Requires extended periods of time viewing computer monitor or standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evening and/or weekends; may encounter occasional exposure to inclement weather during travel.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
