SALARY RANGE: $100,000 - $110,000 FLSA: EXEMPT
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
SCHEDULE DETAILS: Full-time/12 month position/PSRS
Position Summary
The Executive Dean of Students is responsible for leading supportive student services within student affairs that enhance the overall student experience. Reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, this position plays a pivotal role in creating a culture of excellence and making data-driven decisions to support student success. This role includes oversight of various student affairs service areas and requires collaboration across campus to promote a unified approach to student success.
Essential Job Duties
- Supervise the Dean of Students, Counseling Services, Veteran’s Upward Bound, Veteran’s Services, Office of Student Engagement, International Student Coordinator, and eSports.
- Oversee the student conduct process, ensuring that policies are applied fairly and consistently.
- Build strong partnerships across campus to foster a culture of collaboration and shared responsibility for student success.
- Oversee system-wide initiatives that promote student engagement across all locations, ensuring consistency and alignment with institutional goals.
- Implement assessment tools and feedback mechanisms to continuously evaluate and improve student services programs.
- Identify emerging trends in higher education and student development, translating these into actionable plans that align with the institution's mission and values.
- Develop, implement, and oversee policies and procedures that align with the institution's mission and goals.
- Oversee the response to student-related crises, providing guidance and support to affected students and staff.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and community leaders to enhance student opportunities and resources.
- Identify and cultivate funding opportunities through grants, donations, and partnerships to enhance student programs and scholarships.
- Assist in defining the strategic direction of student affairs.
- Develop and manage the budget for student services programs, ensuring responsible allocation of resources to support student success.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Master’s degree in higher education administration, college student personnel, counseling, or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- Five years of successful progressive professional experience in college student affairs and enrollment management.
- Strong working knowledge and understanding of established professional codes of ethics and best practices for Student Affairs professionals.
- Three years of Title IX experience.
- Three years of student discipline experience.
- Proven leadership experience in student affairs.
- Exemplary organizational, leadership, and supervisory skills.
- Strong strategic thinking and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and perform a variety of work activities as a productive team member as well as independently.
- Ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse and demanding student and parent population.
- Ability to work independently, make decisions in student conduct cases, and prioritize workload.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate and interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and all external constituencies.
- Must be a self-starter who works well in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-oriented environment.
- Perceptive and patient, with strong people skills and a willingness to assist others.
- Ability to demonstrate ownership, accountability, and teamwork.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Doctorate in a related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning
- Seven years of successful progressive professional experience in college student affairs and enrollment management.
- Five years of Title IX experience.
- Five years of student discipline experience.

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. Requires extended periods of time viewing computer monitor or standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evening and/or weekends; may encounter occasional exposure to inclement weather during travel.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
