JOB TITLE: FOOD SERVICE PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR DEPARTMENT: AUXILIARY SERVICES
SALARY RANGE: $31,200 – $40,000 FLSA: NON-EXEMPT
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Food Service Manager
SCHEDULE DETAILS: Full-time (Monday – Friday from 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.)/9.5 month position/PEERS
Position Summary
The Food Service Production Supervisor assists the Food Service Manager in the daily operations of campus food services. Oversees the scheduling of staff, safety training, and food production. Provides excellent customer service, extreme attention to detail, and analysis of operations to maximize profitability and the customer experience. Supports catering and campus delivery services.
Essential Job Duties
- Manage the Café 101 kitchen, serving line, dish room and dining room to assure adherence to all safety and food handling requirements.
- Responsible for coaching, teaching, instructing, and leading the café personnel, as well as coordinating training activities on a regular basis for all staff.
- Assure implementation of sanitation and food safety procedures and maintain equipment while enacting all safety protocols.
- Ensure that all labor is scheduled, shifts posted, followed, and maintained to meet budgetary goals.
- Ensure compliance with local health department regulations and inspections.
- Ensure the ServSafe certification/program is followed.
- Revise and assist in building training processes and materials for all employees in the areas of food production, service, sanitation, and point-of-sale software.
- Cultivate a culture of teamwork to help accomplish Café common goals.
- Ensure adherence to menu recipes while understanding the requirements of production and service needed for each recipe.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all food components, drinks, retail items, catering supplies and equipment.
- Maintain positive financial standing with vendors by processing invoices for payment in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ensure that accurate food cost, waste, and labor accounting procedures are followed and maintained.
- Analyze sales trends, inventories, sales mix, and order guides to forecast proper food production levels in coordination with the Food Service Manager.
- Supervise food production and quality control of catering activities.
- Provide support for pick-up and delivery services by preparing food and beverage options accurately and in a timely manner to increase sales and profitability.
- Conduct meetings of production and service employees at appropriate times as directed by the Food Service Manager.
- Assist with the opening and closing duties of Café 101.
- Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
- Comply with college policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including attending college functions, serving on committees, and attending community events.
Non-Essential Job Duties
- Recommend and award deserving employees for outstanding performance with special recognition.
- Assists in ensuring that all the proper utensils are available and in good repair.
- Ensure open communication with staff, and the Food Service Manager periodically discusses and reviews with staff College objectives, procedures, and personnel policies.
- Keeps manager always informed about food production, service activities, improving training processes, and any major personnel related problems.
- Assigns duties, responsibilities, and workstations to employees in accordance with work requirements.
- Recommend and award deserving employees for outstanding performance with special recognition.
- Coordinate with Facilities and Grounds to ensure equipment or cleaning related needs are met.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Three years of customer service experience.
- Two years of experience in cooking and food preparation.
- Three years of experience in restaurant management.
- One year as supervisor or lead in food preparation or restaurant service.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Greene County health codes.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to accurately document and maintain appropriate records, logs, and reports.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to work effectively and courteously with staff, students, and the general public.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor’s Degree in food management or related field.
- Five years of customer service experience.
- Three or more years of experience in cooking and food preparation.
- Five years of experience in café or restaurant management.
- Three years as supervisor or lead in food preparation, café, or restaurant service.
- ServSafe certification, CPR or First Aid training.
- Experience with Colleague.
- Experience working in a collegiate setting.

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. Requires extended periods of time viewing computer monitor or standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evening and/or weekends; may encounter occasional exposure to inclement weather during travel.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard. This position does require the ability to lift to 40 lbs.
