JOB TITLE:  HEALTH SCIENCES PROGRAMS SPECIALIST                                     DEPARTMENT:  HEALTH SCIENCES

SALARY RANGE: $35,000 - $45,000                                                                 FLSA: NON-EXEMPT       

 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Dean of Health Sciences

SCHEDULE DETAILS:  Full Time - 12 month position - PEERS position

 

Position Summary

The Health Sciences Programs Specialist coordinates and manages the student application process and program admissions criteria for all Health Sciences programs. Must have the ability to use initiative in routine situations and deal with the public in a positive, professional, and courteous manner.

 

Essential Job Duties

  • Coordinates and oversees all Health Sciences program admission processes; to include, applications, reference letters, transcript review, acceptance and denial letters, communication with prospective students, selective admission student data, etc.
  • Coordinate all student admission testing and interviews.
  • Advise and implement the required program admission steps at all campus locations.
  • Submit list of accepted Health Sciences students to Dean of Students and monitors for areas of concern, related to any violations to the generally accepted codes of conduct and behavioral expectations, for Health Sciences careers.
  • Implement and maintain an electronic database of student application data, related to the admission process.
  • Knowledgeable of all Health Sciences program admission criteria.
  • Assist with the customer services responsibilities at front desk, as needed.
  • Handle student and faculty matters, some complex, in a positive, professional and tactful manner, respecting confidentiality as needed, and able to use discretion to determine the need for administrative involvement.
  • Assist with advisement of those students visiting the Health Sciences office for clarification and guidance of program and/or admission information.
  • Assist at student, program or college recruitment events that promote the Health Sciences division.
  • Answers telephone calls, emails and walk-in inquiries and refers appropriate persons, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, by the Dean of Health Sciences or the Assistant to the Dean of Health Sciences.
  • Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
  • Comply with college policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including attending college functions (e.g., commencement). 
  • Serve on committees as requested.
  • Attend community/professional events as requested.
  • Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • An Associate’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning, or be in the process of completing.
  • Clear understanding of or experience with the requirements for admission to the various Health Sciences programs, and the policies and procedures for program admission.
  • Prior customer service experience and working with public.
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to use information technology for professional productivity, including word processing, electronic communications, databases, spreadsheets and presentations.
