Schedule Details:  Part-time (not to exceed 19.5 hours per week)

 

Position Summary

The Clinical Supervisor, through the Career Center High School Health Sciences Program, is responsible for the instruction and management of the assigned clinical components of the certified nurse assistant program as outlined by The Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) through the State of Missouri. The Clinical Supervisor will maintain professionalism within the clinical environment and maintain all required certifications.

 

Essential Job Duties

  • Observe certified nurse assistant students in the clinical environment.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skill in field of specialization of areas of instruction.
  • Maintain professionalism and vocational certifications, as required by position.
  • Provide quality clinical instruction, which is reflective of current discipline standards and is accurate, relevant, and engaging using the State of Missouri, DHSS approved curriculum and resources.
  • Incorporate pedagogical strategies such as active learning, authentic and problem-based activities, and other successful teaching strategies into the clinical instruction.
  • Foster a positive clinical-learning environment by presenting information in a way that is inclusive to all learners, including the assurance of section 508 accessibility.
  • Present course content in an unbiased and civil manner, while demonstrating respect, helpfulness, and responsiveness toward students.
  • Monitor for areas of concern, related to any violations to the generally accepted codes of conduct and behavioral expectations, for Allied Health technical careers.
  • Demonstrate the appropriate procedures to the certified nurse assistant student in the clinical environment.

  • Adhere by the policies and procedures of each clinical location.
  • Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
  • Comply with college policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current unrestricted Missouri State License as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN).
  • CPR Certified.
  • One year of long-term care (LTC) nursing experience, or currently employed in a LTC facility.
  • Eligible to attend (or has attended) the Clinical Supervisor training series, as outlined by The Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS). 
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).

 

Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Current unrestricted Missouri State License as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • CPR Instructor Certified.
  • Experience working within clinical settings.
  • Completion of the DHSS clinical supervisory training program.
  • Experience working within a collegiate setting.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: (The conditions herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.)

Environment: Work is performed in a variety of settings including, but not limited to: college-owned vehicles (e.g. passenger buses, vans, trucks, and cars) and in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions or in laboratory/maintenance areas. Work environment may include extreme weather conditions such as heat, cold, and precipitation. Requires extended periods of time of driving, sitting idle, viewing computer monitor or standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evening and/or weekends; may encounter occasional exposure to inclement weather during travel. 

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
