JOB TITLE: COORDINATOR OF HIGH SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENT DEPARTMENT: MIDDLE COLLEGE
SALARY RANGE: $60,000-$75,000/Level 1-A FLSA: EXEMPT
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: College Director of High School Programs
SCHEDULE DETAILS: Full-time/12 month position/PSRS
This position contributes to night meetings or weekend events, as needed.
Position Summary
The Coordinator of High School Achievement works to ensure students meet their high school graduation requirements while pursuing post-secondary goals. The Coordinator of High School Achievement is responsible for student scheduling, short-term counseling, academic monitoring, and coordinating support services for students along with crisis intervention. This position is a liaison between partnering district counselors and college partners.
Essential Job Duties
- Acts as Secondary Counselor for students enrolled in Middle College programs providing exceptional service including:
- Monitor student grades, attendance, and assist students in understanding personal barriers affecting their education; provide follow-up support to students, parents, high school teachers, and sending schools.
- Develop effective relationships and partner with parents to encourage student success and retention through open communication.
- Schedule high school courses and college courses including development of the Master Schedule for all programs related to Middle College.
- Serve as an academic advisor to Middle College students.
- Maintain accessibility to former Middle College graduates to help with post-secondary requirements/deadlines.
- Communicate and problem-solve with high school teachers about students.
- Communicate student concerns, programming changes, enrollment and billing information, etc., regularly with sending schools, guardians, OTC instructors and staff.
- Maintain positive communication and partnerships with sending schools, department chairs/program directors and other campus staff/administrators, particularly those who support enrollment management on campus.
- Work with Career Resource Educator on students with an IEP or 504 plan.
- Advise and schedule students for appropriate courses and educational programs to reach personal career goals.
- Maintain records of grades, enter grades quarterly into Student Information System, update transcripts, and send grade report cards to partner school districts.
- Help develop and set up Master Schedule for each semester in the Student Information System.
- Collaborate with others in innovation, enhancement, and delivery of services for improvement of student experiences.
- Assist with A+ program coordination.
- Assist with planning and implementation of special events.
- Assist with conducting new student and parent interviews.
- Maintain confidential files and records.
- Participate in marketing and recruitment efforts.
- Demonstrate effective computer literacy and operates multiple databases.
- Contribute to the overall effective operation and development of Middle College.
- Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
- Comply with college policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including attending college functions, serving on committees and attending community events.
Non-Essential Job Duties
- Provide crisis intervention for emergencies within the college community.
- Maintain confidential files and records.
- Maintain professional certification and participate in professional development.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Master’s degree in school counseling or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- Valid Missouri teaching certificate with Secondary Counselor certification, or with Student Services certification from the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education.
- Three years of relevant work experience as a school counselor.
- Demonstrated experience with enrollment management and course scheduling.
- Experience with academic advising.
- Experience with adolescents/crisis management.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to use information technology for professional productivity, including word processing, electronic communications, databases, spreadsheets and presentations.

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. Requires extended periods of time viewing computer monitor or standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evening and/or weekends; may encounter occasional exposure to inclement weather during travel.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
