Position Summary
The SkillUp Grants Manager and Student Support Specialist will be responsible for the administration of the SkillUP grant (50%) and assisting students with questions and processes related to Allied Health short-term program admission, registration, financial aid options, and enrollment (50%).
Essential Job Duties
SkillUp Grants Manager (50%)
- Serve as the primary contact for prospective students eligible for the SkillUP grant-eligible programs.
- Collaborate and coordinate required grant activities with the college grants office.
- Be able to complete/pass the state confidentiality training and MOJobs database training.
- Develop strategies for attracting and maintaining student prospects to the SkillUP Grant programs.
- Guide prospective students through the enrollment and registration processes.
- Provide advising to both prospective and enrolled students, including explaining curriculum requirements and assisting with the selection of appropriate courses.
- Maintain knowledge of all SkillUP-eligible programs and their respective admission criteria.
- Remain in contact with students throughout their program, serving as their advisor and retention guide throughout any required grant-funded program. Serve as a coach and a facilitator.
- Document grant-required SkillUP participant information in the MO Jobs database before, during, and after exiting academic/training programs.
- Assist with referrals to Missouri Job Center for job placement and follow up.
- Travel for meetings and required training, including overnight, and multiple days.
Essential Job Duties
Student Support Specialist, Allied Health (50%)
- Greet, welcome, and assist students and visitors.
- Provide information related to Short-term training Allied Health programs, including admission requirements, financial aid, registration, and enrollment by answering incoming calls and returning voicemails/emails.
- Perform daily computer-based operations utilizing Colleague (Ellucian) for student registration.
- Prepare and process student registrations for Allied Health short-term courses.
- Provide assistance with processing paperwork and other tasks required to serve students.
- Assist with general academic advising to both prospective and enrolled students on both credit and Allied Health short-term programs, personally connecting students to the appropriate program or department representatives, when necessary.
- Assist student who are having academic or personal difficulties by connecting them with appropriate college and community resources.
- Coordinate with the Academic Support Center on implementing accommodations for qualified students with disabilities.
- Communicate student issues and concerns to supervisors or appropriate personnel.
- Assist with monitoring online educational partnership invoices to insure accuracy of invoice to actual enrollment.
- Prepare refund requests and third-party billings.
- Provide accurate, valid and complete information by using the right methods/tools.
- Comply with college policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including attending college functions, serving on committees and attending community events.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- One year of customer service or student advising experience.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- Demonstrated grant management experience.
- Two years of previous work experience in recruiting, customer service, sales, or advising of students.
- Previous experience with advising of students with grants.
- Experience with Colleague.
- Experience working within a collegiate setting.

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. Requires extended periods of time viewing computer monitor or standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evening and/or weekends; may encounter occasional exposure to inclement weather during travel.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 60 lbs. to a height of 42”; to enter, exit and operate manufacturing equipment such as a forklift, to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
