SALARY RANGE: $15.00-17.89 per hour
FLSA: Non-Exempt
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Access and Accommodation Office
SCHEDULE DETAILS: Part-time (not to exceed 19.5 hours per week). To comply with the college's academic integrity policy, current OTC students are not eligible for this position.
Position Summary
The Part-time Proctor-Reader-Scribe ensures the integrity of all exam processes in the Accommodated Testing Center. They will assist students taking exams with approved accommodations, serving as a reader and scribe. The Proctor also assists in the daily general operations of the Access and Accommodation Office as needed.
Essential Job Duties
- Ensure the integrity of all test administration for exams associated with OTC, its educational partners, or third-party platforms. This includes strict attention to exam security, client check in protocols, exam proctoring requirements, and appropriate exam delivery for all testing platforms.
- Provide excellent customer service for all students, clients, faculty, and staff who utilize our services.
- Demonstrate alignment with OTC Cares (student-centered, holistic, proactive, and data informed) and utilize that framework in day-to-day activities.
- Establish and maintain a low-stress environment that promotes test taker’s confidence and success.
- Assist students and faculty when testing-related issues arise.
- Read aloud clearly and for long periods of time.
- Write and type legibly and quickly.
- Demonstrate for and assist students with assistive technologies and specialized software.
- Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
- Comply with college policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including attending college functions.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience troubleshooting and/or resolving basic hardware and software issues.
- Demonstrate ability to work in an environment that requires attention to detail and/or compliance with strict standards.
- Demonstrate ability to accomplish tasks by following written instructions with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Competency in technology and software, including learning management systems and customer relationship management platforms.
Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- An associate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning or equivalent experience.
- Previous customer service experience.
- Experience reading and writing college level material or providing auxiliary services such as note-taking, test proctoring or special testing services to students with documented disabilities.
- Experience with proctoring or working in a testing center.
- Experience working within an academic and/or collegiate setting.
- Ability to work a flexible, varied schedule based on student needs.
- Experience with Colleague.

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard classroom or office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. Requires extended periods of time within a classroom or laboratory, that may include viewing computer monitors and remaining stationary or manipulating lab equipment and navigating in limited space.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a classroom or office setting; to remain stationary or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (may utilize aids); to operate laboratory and office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard. Specific abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to hear conversation.
