JOB TITLE:  PART-TIME STUDENT SUPPORT SPECIALIST                DEPARTMENT:  HEALTH SCIENCES

SALARY RANGE:  $15.00 – 20.00/hour                                        FLSA:  NON-EXEMPT

 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Allied Health – Program Director

SCHEDULE DETAILS:  Part-time/12-month position (not to exceed 19.5 hours per week)

 

Position Summary

The Allied Health Student Support Specialist performs daily functions in the targeted toward assisting students with questions related to Allied Health short-term program admission, registration, financial aid options, and enrollment. The essential functions of this position require a physical presence onsite.   

 

Essential Job Duties

  • Greet, welcome, and assist students and visitors.
  • Provide information related to Allied Health Short Term programs, including admission requirements, financial aid, registration, and enrollment by answering incoming calls and returning voicemails/emails.
  • Perform daily computer-based operations utilizing Ellucian Colleague software for student registration.
  • Prepare and process student registrations for Allied Health short-term courses.
  • Assist with processing paperwork and other tasks required to serve students.
  • Assist with general academic advising to both prospective and enrolled students on both credit and Allied Health short-term programs.
  • Assist students who are having academic or personal difficulties by connecting them with appropriate college and community resources.
  • Coordinate with the Academic Support Center on implementing accommodations for qualified students with disabilities.
  • Communicate student issues and concerns to supervisors or appropriate personnel.
  • Prepare refund requests and third-party billings.
  • Provide accurate, valid and complete information by using the right methods/tools.
  • Comply with college policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including attending college functions, serving on committees, and attending community events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Non-Essential Job Duties

  • Assist in rescheduling classes due to weather, illness, emergency, etc.
  • Assist with preparation and distribution of participant course certificates of completion.
  • Assist with the preparation of course instructional packets as required for specific courses.
  • Assist with monitoring Allied Health Short Term course schedule and enrollment statistics to share with supervisor.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • High-School Diploma or GED/HISET
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to work well with others, maintain a positive attitude, and work environment.
  • Ability to remain professional and courteous with students and co-workers at all times.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to adapt/respond to different types of characters.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to use information technology effectively (such as Microsoft Office Suite)

 

Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Associate degree in from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Two years of customer service experience.
  • Experience with Ellucian Colleague.
  • Experience working within a collegiate setting.
