Position Summary

The IT Business Analyst Identification & Surveillance Systems plays a critical role in bridging business needs with technology solutions. This position is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the college’s student and employee identification system and campus surveillance systems. The Analyst collaborates with key stakeholders including Student Affairs, Finance, Safety & Security, Retail Auxiliary Services, and other departments to define functional requirements, ensure alignment with business objectives, and document best practices for effective implementation. The ideal candidate excels at managing multiple priorities, has a strong understanding of data flow across business processes, and works closely with IT teams and system stakeholders to drive informed decisions that enhance enterprise technology systems, support departmental IT functions, and ensure the reliability and security of surveillance infrastructure.

 

Essential Job Duties

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business needs and translate them into clear requirements for identification, surveillance, and IT functions.
  • Administer, maintain, and oversee daily operations of the college’s identification and credentialing system for all students and employees, ensuring reliable system performance and security.
  • Administer, maintain, and oversee campus surveillance systems, including cameras, recording devices, access controls, and related hardware/software.
  • Gather, document, and analyze business processes, workflows, and systems, including those related to ID issuance, access control, surveillance, financial transactions, and departmental IT needs.
  • Responsible for identifying gaps between enterprise system functionality and organization policy/regulatory requirements, then recommending solutions.
  • Serve as the primary technical expert and point of contact for the identification and surveillance platforms, coordinating with vendors, IT staff, and campus departments to address system issues and improvements.
  • Work in close collaboration with developers in testing functionality of enhancements and/or modifications.
  • Support Student Affairs, Finance, Safety & Security, Retail Auxiliary Services, and other departments in operational workflows, card issuance, event access, surveillance monitoring, financial transactions, and point-of-sale integrations.
  • Ensure surveillance systems are compliant with institutional policies, privacy standards, and legal requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of relevant training materials, process change documentation, and user guides for departments utilizing the ID and surveillance systems and other IT solutions.
  • Facilitate training sessions for employees on new systems or new features in existing systems, including surveillance system usage and protocols.
  • Assist in the implementation of system upgrades and provide new processes if required.
  • Assist in the configuration of assigned systems where applicable. Direct the project management and end-to-end delivery of enterprise solutions by aligning technical roadmaps with business objectives, managing resources, and proactively mitigating risks to ensure scalable, on-time deployments.
  • Participate in strategic planning for potential expansion of the identification and surveillance systems and other IT functions.
  • Support budget planning for system hardware, software, supplies, and life-cycle replacement.
  • Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
  • Comply with college policies and procedures.
  • Perform other project-related duties or functions as needed when critical to business function, including attending college functions, community events, and serving on committees.

 

Non-Essential Job Duties

  • Facilitate changes in business processes by communicating proposed changes to relevant employees, gathering and analyzing feedback, and incorporating insights before finalizing processes.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain current knowledge of identity management, surveillance technology, security best practices, and enterprise card systems.
  • Participate in relevant professional groups and networks within higher education identity management, surveillance, and auxiliary services.
  • Assist with testing, evaluation, and pilot implementation of emerging technologies related to access control, surveillance, student engagement, or departmental IT functions.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Associate’s degree in business, information technology, computer science, business systems, or other related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning or two years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience administering enterprise systems, preferably in higher education or complex organizational environments.
  • Strong technical proficiency with database systems, enterprise platforms, access control systems, surveillance technologies, or identification technologies.
  • The ability to make good decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to present material in written form that is understandable to the technical and non-technical reader.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Commitment to data privacy, system security, and institutional compliance standards.

 

Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, communications, information technology, computer science, business systems, or other related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning or four years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with business analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI, SharePoint, Excel macros, Informer.
  • Experience with Colleague or other higher-education enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Experience with Atrium or other enterprise identification, card services, or access-control platforms.
  • Experience integrating enterprise systems with point-of-sale, financial, surveillance, or access-control applications.
  • Prior experience in higher education, especially in IT or student services environments.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Finance and Procurement operations in an educational environment.
  • Experience with project management, system implementation, or cross-functional process design.
